ABOUT

DPWATCH is devoted to project management, technology watch, audit and training in the fields of  digital preservation and digital curation.

We like to consider  ourselves as outsiders brought in, outsiders with an insight. Most of the time outsiders have a better perception of what is going on in a given environment for the very reason they are independent and do not belong to this environment. At the institution level it comes to hiring a “consultant” to help you in any given task.

Digital preservation is an endeavor, it is a long term process implying many people in an institution. Decisions need to be made, schedules are to be respected, deliverables should be delivered, projects evolve into programs and need leaders, teams and groups.

Some will argue that once the software is chosen, the issue of digital preservation is solved: not true. The software is the tip of the iceberg, digital preservation will partly restructure your institution. And you want to be prepared and ready.

We provide risks analysis, auditing, technical specification and solution selection, project management.

If you plan on launching a digital preservation project at the institutional level, if you need an information session on digital preservation,or a conference reports-state of the arts session,  if you want to make an audit before entering the digital preservation adventure, if you are implementing a software – proprietary or open source-  and need a project manager: we can help you.
